Have you tried requesting the passport back through this link?

If it's been over 6 months I suggest you get your MP involved.
All information given is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

The Home Office provide a form to request the passport back but you refuse to use it and ask for a short-cut to get the passport back... I really don't understand your logic here.

Alternatively, the Spanish consulate (the embassy does not deal with passports) will have emergency appointments for people who are due to travel soon but do not have their passport (they should be able to provide a "salvoconducto" to travel instead of a passport). The normal procedure to get a new passport through the consulate used to take a couple of months as they send the application to Madrid, Madrid sends the passport to the consulate and then you have to go and collect it. I don't know if the process is quicker now.

Hi
firstly I knew this forum a week ago and I didn't know what I have to do I was just waiting.
I know that it was a mistake not requesting my husband's passport a few months ago to renew it
and the appointment in the Spanish consulate is for September the (posses now take 2 3 weeks) and he can provide salvoconducto but it's only to enter to Spain not to another country or return to UK.
but the problem is me whose waiting for PR and I can't travel or do anything just wait
