UK Naric Letter - FLR(M) Already Submitted

Post by itsmylife » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:29 am

Why do they need NARIC if their degree was taught in English?

4.3. Verification of academic qualification evidence
Decision makers may find the English Skills section of the PBS Points Calculator helpful when
deciding whether an academic qualification meets the criteria for the English language
requirement. The calculator contains information from UK NARIC as to which academic
qualifications they deem to be equivalent to the standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
or PhD in the UK.

Because its from a foreign institution :!:
From 6 April 2016 the points calculator cannot be used to provide information in support of migrant applications for leave to enter or remain in the UK

Official website is quite clear.
But not the application form and the guidance notes. I still believe you don't need a NARIC for the above case as neither the Guidance notes or the form refers to the Link you provided.

Anyways will update this thread with the result of my application

From the guidance notes as I have stated. Anything unclear?
e) You must meet the English language requirement
A person under 65 who is applying for leave to remain as a spouse, civil partner, fiance(e) or
proposed civil partner, unmarried partner or same sex partner of a British citizen or person settled
in the United Kingdom needs to show that they can speak and understand English. You can do
this if:
 You are a national of a specified English speaking country.
 You have passed an English language test in speaking and listening at level A1 of the
Common European Framework of Reference or above, with a Home Office approved
provider.
You have an academic qualification recognised by UK NARIC as equivalent to the standard
of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the UK. This must have been taught in English.

It just says "recognised by UK NARIC as equivalent" and doesn't mention anything about NARIC certificate or the link provided by noajthan.

However in the same page if you go to the link provided in "Guidance on how to meet the English language requirement, including the evidence you must
provide, can be found on gov.uk at: English language guidance
"
AND if you select Appendix FM section 1.21 : English language requirement:

It states "Decision makers may find the English Skills section of the PBS Points Calculator helpful when
deciding whether an academic qualification meets the criteria for the English language
requirement. The calculator contains information from UK NARIC as to which academic
qualifications they deem to be equivalent to the standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
or PhD in the UK. "

Please note that I'm not trying to prove someone wrong. But trying to understand as to why the guidance notes say something else :)

PBS Calculator is no longer accepted.

As you have already applied, not much you can do now. HO might write asking for the ELA from NARIC, they might not.

Thanks moderator.

I just got the visa approval letter along with the original documents today. This goes to prove that I'm right and that you will NOT require NARIC(in my case) where the applicant had a english equivalent degree from Ind and has already proved this in previous application.
