dependent parents

Post by koshynita » Tue Dec 25, 2007 8:11 am

dear all

I am a naturalised british citizen.
i would like to bring my parents to UK as dependants.
My dad is 75 yrs old and mother 66 yrs old.
We are 4 brothers and my parents do not have any other relatives living nearby home who can look after them.
2 of my brothers are in USA & not much contact with parents.
Me and my elder brother are in UK. My elder brother is on HSMP. We are both doctors & our spouses work as well. We can comfortably house our parents & look after them without recourse to public funds which we are willing to state to the immigration dept.
Unfortunately due to work commitments etc i have not been able to spend time with parents & my children also miss them.
My parents do not have a pension or other social services in india.
I regularly sent them money for their upkeep thro bank etc.
Is it possible to bring them to UK as dependants. what are the requirements of home office ?
I would be grateful for suggestions and advice!
where do i apply ..ie..india or UK ?
Should i go thro a solicitor?
I would also benefit from hearing from those who have gone thro the procedure!!
Thanking in advance

few issues remaining & not clear

Thanks vinny,

I am still not clear on certain issues
how do one prove parents are financially dependent on me?
Do you think chances are better if i go thro a solicitor & if so anyone this board can recommend
This is simply because most of the things written are very vague.
should my parents be applying in india ?

You could also include evidence of your regular money transfers, etc.

elderly dependants

Post by koshynita » Tue Jan 01, 2008 8:38 pm

dear samkma

No i dont remember asking for any housemaid.....more so i have been trying to sort out bringing elderly parents to stay with me in uk.

My work commitments are such its extremely difficult to take time off to get some quality time with parents in india...infact i couldnt make it for vaction in india for past 3-4 years....something or other would come up.
i am really thinking of bringing them over....problems are the difficulties in convincing the homeoffice there is a genuine case.

I see most of those with similar case , on this forum have been struggling...& in fact most say experience at consul office was not very good. I didnt want to put my elderly parents thro such an an ordeal at british consulate.

I am trying to find an experienced solicitor who have dealt with similar cases before i apply.

Any help/ advice much appreciated.
yours

hi..i think u are planning to bring in your parents from india. Last month I had just won my appeal case for spouse visa. I think u can look at Matrix Law Chamber at London. They are big firm and professional but u need to pay a little bit more.

Matrix are a barristers chambers, you cannot go directly to them for assistance, you need to go to a solicitor or an advisor such as myself first.
