BC child born aborad apply CoE & Passport together?

Post by minsurfnet » Fri Jan 06, 2017 1:02 am

Hi All,

I'm a naturalized British citizen since 2013. I got married abroad and now have two (2) children's age two and half (2-1/2) and One (1) year. Both children were born after becoming the BC. I've not applied any spouse visa for my wife yet.

Now, I would like to bring my family to UK, but I want to apply British passport for my children first.

My questions is.
Should I apply CoE and British Passport together? or should I apply CoE and then for British passport from outside UK?

I know this might be a common question, but i couldn't find so I'm opening a thread.

Thanks,
Syed.

6(b) prevents the issue of a CoE-RoA when the applicant has a British passport.

No. If the children are automatically British, then they cannot register on form MN1!

You have two options.

1. Apply for British passports - can take many months from aboad.

OR

2. Apply for CoE on their foreign passports and once they are in the UK, then apply for BC passport using fast track service.

Which option you choose depends on when you plan to apply for your spouse's visa and want the family to come to the UK.
