Time taken for Unrestricted CoS application

Post by rubyracer2 » Fri Feb 10, 2017 11:53 pm

Hi All,

How much time does it take to apply for an Unrestricted CoS? If there are unused CoS available in the SMS, is it just a matter of assigning the CoS or is there a turnaround time of a few days even there.

Also if there are no unused CoS left, how much time would it take to get more from the Home Office. I understand that timelines can vary but am just looking for a general time taken for this process to complete.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If unused CoS are available then it is just a matter of assigning them to the employee.

If there is no CoS allocation then employer will have to first apply for CoS allocation from within SMS. I am not sure how long it takes for CoS allocation in standard process but if employer applies with Premium Service which costs £200. It takes about 15 to 20 days for allocation to appear in SMS even though they say 5 working days at the time of application.

I hope this helps.

Hi Rayesh,

Your employer needs to ring Premium Service desk on the number 01415556027.
Make a priority CoS allocation and pay £200. Check with them how long does this take and I believe they will say 5 working days.

You would be lucky if you get within 5 working days as it normally takes 15 to 20 days.

I hope this helps.

Hi Sabi thanks for your reply.

If we apply without priority service, does the allocation actually take 18 weeks or is it something that the Home Office just quotes as higher than average time.

Hi,

I am not sure how long it takes for a normal service. It could be 18 weeks, I will say this because even with Priority service you would be very lucky if you get within 5 working days. So, this makes me think that it probably would take 18 weeks. In my experience it took 15 days for CoS allocation to appear in SMS even though we had applied via premium service.

Hi sabi27,
We just made a call to that number [01415556027].
But there is a voice message which says to call tomorrow between [9am and 4 pm] instead. Is it normal? :?
When we called them it was 2pm.

kind regards
kumar
