Going back within the 2 year Spouse Visa

Post by ahmed786 » Fri Jan 18, 2008 9:44 am

Hi

Just wondering how is it seen if someone goes back to thier home country for a couple of weeks (attend a wedding) after getting a spouse visa to the UK. Especially if the person has entered the UK only a few months ago?

Thanks

See also SET(M) - days of absence? Short trips should not be a problem.

You should also read the Form SET(M) for the settlement requirements as soon as possible.

Short trips don't seem to be a problem at all.

During my wifes 2 year visa she went back to her home country about eight times and we went on a 5 week holiday to other countries. She also went on a few business trips. In total she was out the UK for about 80 days during the 2 years. We fully documented this in the ILR application, even though it wasn't asked for; it wasn't even commented on and the ILR was granted. (Do read about others who have ILR refused due to too much time away though)

When you return to the UK they often ask why you have been away, if you live permanently in the uk etc but seem quite happy with the honest reply.
