Online or Paper PR Application for non-EEA FM?

My non-EEA partner's RC expires.
Since February 2017, we could submit the online application.
1. Is it advisable to use online or paper?

2. I originally thought to do the application for him, but since I need to include all my work evidence since 2004, I am thinking if I should just also include myself in order not to have this extensive process again.

My case is not straightforward due to study years initially and baby towards the end of timeline. I need to rely on retained worker status rights during a six months non-working but job-seeking period.
