UK Visa Expires Feb 2008 - Considering Italian Citizenship

Post by Lorena » Tue Jan 22, 2008 4:43 pm

Hi Everyone,

I am Brazilian and have lived in the UK for almost 5 years now with 3 student visa extensions, my visa is due to expire at the end of Feb 2008

My family have spent the last few months gathering relevant documentation to prove that my Great Grandad was Italian (he is deceased now) and to proove the blood line of my family relates to him, i.e. marriages, birth and death certificates.

I have heard many horror stories from people who have attempted to get their Italian passport but also some success stories and wonder if anyone has any good contacts in Italy that may be able to assist me with gaining the citizenship.

If anyone has any experience or stories they can share of anyone who has been successful or unsuccessful at gaining Italian Citizenship via a Great Grandparent I would be grateful if you could provide assistance.

Many Thanks,
Lorena

In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
