ILR Eligibility

Post by technocrat » Tue Jan 22, 2008 4:54 pm

Hi,
Could someone please advice on the following:
I came to UK as a student in 2002 and in 2004 November I changed my visa status into work permit. Recently in December 2007 I got approved for HSMP.
I am presently waiting for the FLR to be processed which I should recived until January 2011.

As mentioned above this would make a continuous stay in UK with 3 years of work permit and 2 years on HSMP. Would I then be eligible to apply for ILR?
Also will there be any impact on number of times you vist abroad for holiday during this 5 year period?

Please advice....

Thanks.

If your dates are correct you should be eligible for ILR in October 2009, since your time as a student will not count for the five year ILR, remember you will have to pass the life in the UK test first. Your absences abroad should not exceed 90 days at any single time, total absences during the five year period shoulod not exceed six months (180 days). There is some discretion allowed but only in certian circumstances. You should have a good read of the application form and associated guidance before your ILR application becomes due.
