"Date of application" for tier 2 general visa

Dear respected members,

I have submitted an ONLINE APPLICATION for tier 2 (general) extension on 19 March 2017. I have been asked to submit the relevant documents within 15 days by post. Will 19 March 2017 be considered as date of application for my visa pplication?

My visa expires on 24 March 2017. I thought of posting the relevant documents after 24 March 2017 as I need my passport for some more days.

Thanks a lot Char for the quick response! So now I can submit the documents even after expiry of my previous visa which is 24 March 2017. I mean I can submit the documents anytime within 15 days. Am I right?
