Canada Skilled Immigration: Steps to follow

Post by aneg07 » Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:52 am

Hi,
i am interested in Canada Skilled Immigration.
I have found some informations on the web but i'm not able to understand how this system works.
I cheched and now i know I can qualify under the Canada immigration point system but after that I dont know the steps to follow.
I didn't understand wat kind of visa i have to apply for and what is timing to process this application.
Is it true that it will be a long wait? For example 3 years? Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

Canada Skilled Immigration: Steps to follow

Hi,

To answer some of your questions:

I would recommend to start collecting all documents. It can take a while, and you may also want to take a look at the form as well.

Regarding processing time, it depends on which office you will be submitting to. In general, the average processing time is between 2 – 5 years.

I hope it helps.

:( ...does it mean that i have to wait in my home country for at least 2 years before going in Canada as skilled worker?

Actually, the wait times from India are very long.. about 80% of the cases get processed in 6 years..

The process is also outlined on the Canada website above.

Good luck!

 6 years is a very long time....
:D Could i search for a job in Canada in the meantime? Or do i MUST wait until the end of the processing time?

If you can find sponsorship, the immigration will be faster.. That's very hard to do though. Alternatively, if you qualify for provincial nomination it might be faster also. You'd be confined to certain areas under that immigration plan.. The website indicates the various provincial requirements also...

Thanks, your advices are helping me a lot. I dint'nt know about a provincial nomination...
Could you, please, tell me what is exactly a provincial nomination?
What should i need to qualify for provincial nomination? A sponsorship from an employer located in one of the Canada Provinces?
Where could i find infos about this nomination?

Thanks again
