Minimum Passport validity to enter in UK on ILR visa

Hello,

I hope someone can help me with this...
I am resident of UK on ILR visa beyond 2017.

If I return to UK from a non EU country with with passport validity just above 3 months.
Will there be any issues when entering UK due to this either from UKBA or airlines?

Few Airline websites has a generic statement saying "Make sure your passport is valid for 6 months" however I do not see any such rule on UKBA website.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I don't know the UK Border requirements but your bigger concern is the airline itself.
