National Insurance Number - does it ever change?

Post by coca-coola83 » Thu Jan 24, 2008 7:05 am

Hi everyone,

This is a fantastic forum, and has helped me so much in the last few months, so thanks.

A quick question:-

Before she knew me, my wife (canadian) came to the UK on a Working Holiday Visa, and was issued with a National Insurance Number.

She's now back in the UK on a Spouse visa. Does she need to reapply for a NIN, or is her old number still valid?

Thanks a lot,

Nick.

A NI number remains valid for life!

Your NI number remains the same, your wife will need to contact the Revenue Services to change her name into her married name but essentially her NI number will remain the same.
