Parent of a British Child - Settlement Eligibility

Hi,

Child (11 YO) is a British citizen.
Parent is on DLR and sole carer for that child.

I read the following on some other website:

UK Settlement Eligibility
Your child must be under the age of 18, living in the UK, and a British citizen or settled person; and
You have sole responsibility for the child and the child normally lives with you;

Can a parent apply for ILR on that basis or must complete 6 years on DLR?
