Certificate of ROA

Post by samira_uk » Mon Jul 17, 2017 5:50 pm

Hi,

Is it possible that someone with a certificate of ROA travels to the UK and then applies for a British passport from inside the UK? in that case they will cancel their certificate of ROA?

Thanks

Yes, if person is also British.
Yes, they will cancel the CoE-RoA, when issuing a British passport.

Hi and thank you for your response.

The same person applied for his child's British passport however he was told that it may take several months. Now, someone told him that he could apply for a settlement visa (Appendix FM) for his child. Is it correct? I am under the impression that as his child has a claim to British citizenship, it is not possible to apply for a visa. Is it true or as he has not had any document confirming his British citizenship, he is able to apply for a visa?
