Does anyone else think there'll be another 2017 ceremony (after October!)?

Just wondering people's thoughts...all speculation of course! (I also added a poll for a bit of fun!)

It seems like it could be possible because (from what I found on Google) it seems 1000+ less people will receive citizenship in 2017 than did in 2016 unless they have another ceremony. I know its well known that they are dealing with a huge backlog of applicants this year but maybe that would encourage them to put on another ceremony rather than bring more of that backlog into 2018????

Anyway....maybe I'm just having wishful thinking but interested to see what others think! Here's what I could dig up:

So far in 2017 they've done:

• 21 Apr (Dublin Convention Center) 3000+ people

• 19 Jun (Limerick City) 355 people

• 16 Oct (Dublin Convention Center????) 3000+people????

Total = approx 6355 + people.

In 2016, (with a bit of googling) I found these ones:

• 18 Jul (Dublin Convention Center) 2500+ people

• 19 Sep (Dublin Convention Center) 3350+ people

• 25 Nov (Dublin Convention Center) 2000+ people

Total = approx 7850+ people and there may be more if there were ceremonies earlier than July 2016 - I just can't find any records online.

7850 - 6355 = 1495 less people awarded citizenship in 2017 than (at least the 1st half of) 2016!!!

if the approvals are stopped this week I hardly think even 3000 people will attend in oct17 because if you remember back in march there were many people confirming there approval from jan to march specially in march see the timeline post.
i think they start posting approvals from mid aug and up till today very few people confirmed there approvals

Thanks for the extra info Tatalo! That certainly makes me even more hopeful! With that additional 100 people at the 2016 Waterford ceremony, the difference between 2016 and 2017 approvals is currently approx 1595 people which is >50% capacity of a convention center ceremony! Surely that's cause for 1 more in 2017!

We'll just have to wait and see I guess but here's hoping!

my prediction is
1) there will be one more ceremony in December
2) they will move the October date (they did this last year moved mar to april) and they havnt confirmed the venue yet.

Good point! Although that said I reckon only a very small percentage of total applicants ever have the luck to find this fantastic forum so its hard to judge by the timeline thread. Still I hadn't considered that the Oct 2017 might not even be 3000! If it is less than that puts them even further behind and would hopefully mean:

(a) One more ceremony fit in 2017

OR (hopefully)

(b) More (and starting earlier - e.g. Jan / Feb) ceremonies in 2018 to catch up.
