No, there are no exit checks carried out in Ireland at present.

Hi there,

I have someone from a Visa-required country visiting Ireland on a visitor-visa.

For possible future visits, how can the visitor prove that he did not overstay?

As there are no regular exit-checks at Dublin airport, is there any possibility to get an exit-stamp on request somewhere? Any other ideas?

Rgds, Christian

There wouldn;t be any exit stamp from dublin airport but there will be a stamp on the passport when the person will reach another country (i.e. home country)..... He/She could show that stamp as a proof of not overstayed.

unfortunately this strategy won't work in all cases:

In my case the visitor has a Lebanese passport and usually resides in Canada on a permanent residence-permit.

Such residents of Canada will not receive a stamp on re-entering Canada.

yes, but you dont have to say did you overstay or not. it is up to the immigration officer to prove that if you did or did not overstay, they have to come up with the proof. if your friend is worrying about that, he or she can ask the canadian immigration give him or her a record of arrival back to canada, but again, it is up to the canadian immigration to give him or her the record of it. plus the other best proof is the airline ticket. tell your friend to keep the boarding pass and luggage receipt from the airline. if he or she never travelled back to canada. he or she will never had the boarding pass and luggage check-in recepit from the airline, isnt it?
