Applying for RC after entering on a Schengen tourist visa

Hello folks, a quick one is it possible to apply for RC while entering the country on a Schengen tourist visa or does it has to be a Schengen visa gained under EU directive? was wondering if anyone applied for RC after entering on a tourist Schengen visa?

Where are you planning to apply from and for? The UK is not part of the Schengen zone (this sub forum is for EEA route applications in the UK not the rest of the EU or Ireland).

I think I posted under wrong forum, the RC will be applied in Netherlands.
