Switching to Tier 1 Dependent - return home to apply afresh!

Post by docitduo » Fri Feb 29, 2008 4:22 pm

It seems that the HO has done away with the provision of "switching" to a dependent visa without having to leave UK for anyone thinking of switching to a dependent of a Tier 1 applicant / visa holder !!

Only those who are in UK in a "dependent" category will be able to extend their stay as a "dependent" uner the Tier 1 rules.

But if one is here under any other category e.g. - HSMP, WP, WHM, etc. and wishing to switch to a "dependent" of a Tier 1 visa holder will need to return to their home country and apply for entry clearance afresh as a "dependent".

It was my understanding that people with HSMP or WP (not sure about other categories) could easily switch to HSMP/WP dependent visa in-country (from UK itself). Looks like HO has put an end to it under the Tier 1 scheme.
