Gardai at Dublin Port

Was stopped twice by the Garda coming off the Holyhead ferry last Friday in a UK reg car, within 300 yards of each other!

Was asked for my driving licence but suspect I would have been asked for my passport too had I not been in possession of my naturally superior English accent. Makes foreigners subservient.

I thought they might have been on a VRT-avoidance hunt but as a prime candidate (UK car, UK accent, Irish DL) I was let go, so maybe it was a thinly-disguised immigration check?

Done three crossings this week, Guards at Dublin Port every time stopping people even for the 08:05 morning sailing from Dubs.

Usual UKVI (though van still says UK Border Agency) crowd at Holyhead, stood around not doing much.

Very Strange

Normally there is no Border/immigration Control...

i think too many people moved to Ireland from UK thats why they are checkig now.

i was stopped by UKBA at belfast Airport Twice.

i told them i am UK National, however they still confirmed from department... then let me go.
