Help appreciated if somebody could suggest route to Canada.

Post by sonubaring » Sun Mar 09, 2008 3:02 pm

Hi i would be very grateful if somebody could help me.
My sister has migrated to Canada under the spousal visa, i was wondering if it would be possible for me to go to Canada. I am her older brother and am from India. I am married and have a high school education.

I dont know which visa i would apply for, if somebody would give me some suggestions i would be most grateful. Would it be possible for me to work there?

Thanks in advance.

If you are over 18 you cannot be sponsored by your sister under the family class, I believe (?). Therefore other option would be skilled worker route. You will need to do the points calculation but you can get extra points for having a relative in Canada if she is a permanent resident. You need 67 points to apply.

For skilled worker start here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/ ... /index.asp

Currently processing times for skilled worker applications submitted now are around five years - more or less depending which forum you believe.

Other option is to get a job and then apply. Pehraps she can help with this. This would speed things up. You could also look a PNPs if you have a desirable trade with relevant experience.

british columbia has a new unskilled worker pilot program and a international graduate program

htmhttp://www.ecdev.gov.bc.ca/ProgramsAndServices ... o_ELSS.htm

check your sisters provinces nominee program.
the international graduate program means you join your sister as a student in canada and make sure you pick a diploma that your province will sponcer after you graduate you get a work permit.
you get points for your sister you get points for having a canadian diploma you get points for having canadian residency
