Request for return of documents

Sorry if I have posted question in wrong place,
Basically friend of mine is on ILR and he has applied for flr for his wife within the UK. He has sent his original BRP and passport with application. But he need only his original both documents back asap. We have checked we can do this online but will it effect to his wife application?
