Foreign birth register by descent - children born AFTER registration

Post by Lindsey_T » Mon Jan 22, 2018 3:00 pm

Hello,

I wonder if anybody has any info/advice.

This is a long shot!
I am entitled to Irish citizenship through my Grandad who was born in Ireland. I am now starting the process and compiling the documents.

My 6 year old daughter I cannot register because she would only be entitled if I had registered myself on the foreign births register BEFORE she was born.

Does anyone know if there are any loopholes, or appeals, or any other way I could still try for her? If I had known this I certainly would have registered a long time ago!

We are now living in the Netherlands, and I am keen to get mine done because of Brexit and so of course my daughter too.

Thanks in advance!

The only option I can think of is if you move to Ireland and after reasonable residence ; possibly three years she may take naturalization route
