Passport Expiry, Tier 2, Employment Contract

Hi Guys,
I’d be grateful with some advice.

My current Tier 2 General Visa expires August 2018. My Passport expires July 2019. I plan to get a 2 or 3 year Tier 2 General Visa extension when the current one expires.

1. Will my employers be able to give a 3 year contract despite the fact that my passport expires 2019 when I am about to extend my visa?

2. Can I be given a 3 year Tier 2 visa on a passport that expires in one year (2019)?

3. If I get a new passport now. Can it affect my current visa/travel status?

4. When is the best time to apply for a new passport given my circumstance above?

Yes.

Yes, your new visa will be a BRP card not a visa vignette.

Probably not.

4. When is the best time to apply for a new passport given my circumstance above?

Up to you. This is not an issue if you apply later in the year.
