UK New Born to ILR parent

Post by mallapum » Mon Mar 12, 2018 5:13 pm

Hi,

I have received ILR last week. My baby born on 10-06-2017 in UK and never traveled outside UK hence hasn't applied for any travel document. My wife is on dependent visa.

In my scenario, can I apply for British Passport for my child? If yes, what are supporting documents that I need to submit.

Any information is appreciated..

Thanks..

As you child was born in the UK before you were issued with ILR, they aren't entitled to apply directly for a British passport.

You can however submit a BC Registration application on form MN1 under section 1(3)
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 2.0EXT.pdf

The current fee for Registration is £973, but this is likely to increase when the 2018/19 fees are released on the 6th April.

There is no 'quick' way for registration on MN1. The online form seems to be the quickest time these days but it still takes a few weeks.

Thanks CR001 for your inputs,

I am filling online application (MN1) , have couple of queries.

Country of nationality , baby born in the UK in June last year but never applied or has any nationality (both parents are Indian passport holders). What should I select in this case? Looks like it's a mandatory option in online application and not accepting n/a or not applicable etc

Has any of you or your known ones used online application (MN1) to quire BC for baby born in UK aged less than a year?

Any help is much appreciated..

thanks

Hi All,

After noticing that new online application (MN1) has mandatory fields such as nationality that are not applicable in my case ( baby born in the UK and not registered to any other country , no present nationality ) and facing difficulty to completing online application. I have decided to go for paper MN1 application.

Have following queries, Any help is appreciated

Section 1.9 , Present nationality : I have left blank (child born in UK on 10-06-2017 and not registered to any country. Living in UK since birth ) . Is it correct to leave this blank?
Section 2 : residency requirements , Can I leave 2.1 ,2.2,and 2.3 blank
Section 4: Good Character Requirements : Is this section applicable to child applicant aged 10 and over?
My child is 9 months age , so, Is it okay if leave this entire section blank?
Section 5: Referees . Are 1st and 2nd referee mandatory for 9 months old baby?

Thanks..

Should be ok.
Section 2 : residency requirements , Can I leave 2.1 ,2.2,and 2.3 blank

2.1 write date of birth. Rest leave blank as child has clearly not traveled out of the UK.
Section 4: Good Character Requirements : Is this section applicable to child applicant aged 10 and over?

Leave blank yes.
Section 5: Referees . Are 1st and 2nd referee mandatory for 9 months old baby?
Yes, it is mandatory to have 2 referees.

Hi,
I have attached following supporting documents along with MN1 application and application fee forms
- Baby's UK Full birth certificate
- Father Passport (India)
- Father BRP card (ILR)

Just wondering, these supporting documents sufficient or do i need to attach baby's mother's documents like her passport, BRP (PBS dependent) along with application?

Do I need to send marriage certificate as well?

Thanks..

Yes, it is mandatory to have 2 referees.
CR001 I applied in 2016 when my daughter was 3.5 years without a single refree and it went through, I clearly remember having a tough time finding referees, and HO confirmed it was ok. Have they made it mandatory now. Please don't consider this an argument however, just clarifying.
