Visiting UK whilst waiting for visa decision

Hi guys,

My wife is currently waiting for her visa decision. We are hopeful of receiving a decision soon, but if not we are hoping she may be able to visit me here in the UK instead.

SO, I have 2 questions:

1. Is there any way for her to request her passport back before a decision has been made?

2. Can she visit the UK whilst she has a pending visa application?
