Tier 2 Entry Clearance / Visa

Hi
I just received my RCoS and waiting for biometric appointment at the embassy.
I'm trying to understand the next steps after the appointment, does anyone know the details?
Once I get a visa and enter the UK do I have to wait for a specific document / residency card when I am there? Or can I exit and enter anytime I wish?
I have a trip planned out of the UK for a family event in Europe but trying to see if I can go out or need some time

Assuming that your visa application is for more than 6 months, once your application is approved, you will normally get a visa for 30 days within which you should enter UK. Once you are in UK, you will have to collect your BRP card from the post office which you would have provided in your online application. Once you have the BRP card, you can travel outside UK and back.
