Can claim only 115 points! So should I apply?

Hi I want to apply on 175 catogory (no contacts in Australia and so can not aplly on any other catogory). But my job is not in the MODL and can only claim 115 points. So is there any point in applying? I am a hopeful from Switzerland.

Even before thinking of applying for 175 subclass visa, have you thought how you can increase your points from 115 to the pass mark of 120?

Hi Thanks for the offer.
I am an Engineering graduate in Electronics.
I work as a Network engineer.
My job is in SOL but not in MODL.
And I am 35 years old.

Points I can claim are,
IELTS- 25
Occupation- Systems manager - 60
Age, 35 - 20
Work experience - 10
Total = 115

My job is not in MODL. I can not claim spouse's 5 points. And never been to Aus.

I have two possibilities to improve your points from what you have given:

1. For the purpose of visa, Age means completed years of your age before applying for your visa. so if you are actually 34years & 11 months when applying for your visa, you will still be eligible to claim 25 points instead of 20 points. So my suggestion is check the exact age when awarding you the points under this category

2. I know that you are from Switzerland and hope you are not a native English speaker and hope you know a second language. Ok, Are you fluent in any one of the following language? if so you can claim additional 5 points by writing an exam with NAATI.

I am just over 35. So I can not claim more points here. But the languages, I am fluent in more than one in the list. So I am gonna do the test with NAATI. Though I have no Idea how it is conducted, I will search for it and find out.
