Tier 2 supplementary work

Post by shashie » Thu Aug 09, 2018 2:07 pm

Hello,

I have been recently granted Tier 2 as Senior Developer in a Company.
However, one of the projects I worked as part-time earlier wants to me to work as a Research Application Developer.
Can I work on this part-time in non-office hours? (on weekends and less than 20 hrs a week)

You can only work in the same profession and at the same level as your main full time job.

Its the same profession as Software Developer.
The same level: does it mean the same level of pay? or the same level of role?

226. You do not need to inform us of any supplementary employment, as long as it is:

Immigration Rules, or a job in the same profession, and at the same professional level,
as the work for which your Certificate of Sponsorship was assigned; and
• no more than 20 hours per week; and
• outside of the normal working hours for which your Certificate of Sponsorship was
assigned.
In addition, you must continue to work for your sponsor in the job recorded on your Certificate

It will be through PAYE linked to my NI, per hour basis.
When I calculate gross salary (pro-rated) it's below my full-time salary or minimum sal as per the role as mentioned in UKVI.

All of them I will be inline, "at the same professional level" is not clear to me or a bit vague for me.

I believe CR001 has given you all you need.

You need to:
a. Work in the same kind of job. Both are Software Development roles right?
b. Work at the same level. Would the average person evaluate “Research Application Developer” and “Senior Developer” as the same level of position?

In my own line of work the word “Senior” being added to the Job Title puts you a level higher than a position without it > ie Student, Junior, Engineer, Senior, Associate, Principal are all different levels.
