Absence of more than 180 days in a year but less than 540 days in total

Post by Surj82 » Tue Sep 25, 2018 9:44 am

Dear respected members,

I am completing 10 years next year but I was away from the UK for around 9 months in 2010-11. However, my total absence so far is less than 350 days.

I am not sure how continuous residence is calculated. In some forum, people say "as long as your overall absences are less than 540 days in the ten year period", ILR will be granted. Does it mean even if I was absent for 9 months in the beginning of 10 years, my ILR application will be granted?

Any concrete answer will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Surj

Absence of more than 180 days in one go breaks your continuity of residence.
