Married abroad.Who should I inform about it?

I got married in Cameroon 7th March 2008.
I am EU/EEA national. I have been living and working in the UK 5 years.
Who should I inform about changing my status( I am not planning to change my surname yet)?
Do I need to "register" this marriage in the UK?
What are the rules under the law?

I would appreciate your advice.
