I am a Trade Finance specialist.

what I am curious is if coming in summer to London is not a good idea for looking a job in Banking/Trade Finance role.

How is the sector? Does the recession has impact over the sector.

As above, I'm curious with this too... I'm an asset finance specialist (business development manager) and am wondering how things are looking? I've spoken to a number of recruitment agencies and they tell me now has never been such a good time to come over, mindyou this seems like a typical response from such salesmen.

So, what is really happening over there for the non investment banking people (business/corporate banking) ??

FYI - I'm an Australian and hold a British Passport.

Hi,

I am also a Banker working in Credit (Consumer Banking). I am closely monitoring the job advertisements. Hiring pace was very fast between Feb to April but now it has slower down rather extremely slow. Hardly found any job advertised for a week. Moreover, the hiring process in UK is extremely slow. I think they take months to interview and hire, especially at senior positions.

Well I work for a large corporate bank... and we've had a complete recruitment freeze since February. We're not even allowed to replace people who leave with external hires.

Banks are very much in a holding pattern at the moment, waiting to see what the rest of the year brings........
