Traffic Offence in UK & Tier 1 Application

Post by vj21 » Thu May 15, 2008 5:00 pm

I will be applying for my HSMP extension in next month.
Few months ago I jumped a traffic signal (red light signal) while driving in London, for which I had received a notice from Metropolitan police.
In Tier 1 (General) Application Form under Section 2 - E1 (page14) following question is asked:
"Has the applicant had any criminal convictions in the UK or any other country (including traffic offences) or any civil judgement made against them ?"
I want to know if jumping a traffic signal is considered as criminal offence.
And please advise me how I should answer (Yes / No) above question in my application.
Thanks.

If it was just a notice / warning, then I don't think there is anything to worry about. But if you were convicted of the offence, then it is different.

Whatever you do, don't lie ! If caught you might face more serious consequences.

Pay the fine

You can pay the fine without going to the court. This is not conviction. It is just a traffic violation. In case of drunken driving and stuff it may lead to conviction but not in jumping stop light.
