Unmarried partner EFM RC getting married

I currently hold an unmarried partner extended family member residence card, and am getting married shortly.

I’m considering applying for a EEA family member RC once this happens in order to better protect myself from Brexit. I know indications are that EFM will be treated the same as FM, but you never know.

Would a new RC be issued or just my current one updated?

If a new one is issued, would that reset the 5 year clock for applying for IDLR?
