Company Takeover but same company number in Companies House

Hi guys

To give you some background, I have a Tier 2 visa sponsored by Company A.

Company A is bought by Company B.

Company B is an American firm and didn't have anything in the UK before the purchase of Company A.

All the shareholders are different and Company A's name is now changed to be Company B.

But.....

Company B has kept the same company number with Companies House as Company A, they have done a share sale and change of name.

Company A tried to do a change of circumstances on the SMS and were told that since they have been taken over, they need to provide additional documents regarding the takeover within 10 days, which they did.

Question is, since Company B is American and doesn't have a Tier 2 licence, do they still need to apply for one even if the company number in Companies House is the same and Company A has provided takeover details? Is that sufficient?

If not, can someone please guide me as to what would be best course of action?
