ILR to BRP - evidence of continuous residence in the UK

Post by CarmenHaHa » Tue Dec 18, 2018 5:00 pm

Dear All,

I have been living in the UK for 11 years. I obtained my ILR in DEC 2009. Recently, I want to find a new job and the recruitment agencies told me that my ILR sticker is in my expired passport and I must have a BRP if I want to apply for a new job. I checked on the government website that I need some supporting documents which must cover every year since you became a permanent resident.
Example documents include:
(1) council tax letters;
(2) letter(s) from a GP confirming dates of attendance;
(3) letter(s) from a school or college confirming dates of attendance;
(4) electricity, gas or water bills; or
(5) letter(s) from employer(s) confirming employment.

The following are my questions
  • For (2), I see my specialist in the hospital every 3 - 4 months in the past ten years. The hospital sent me a dated report every time after I attended to the appointment. Can I use the letters as the evidence?
  • For (5), I worked in different schools from 2012. I have the employment contracts and monthly pay slips.. Can I use them as the evidence?
Hope someone can help me...

you can use the documents you mentioned along with any other supporting document you may have. The more documentary proof the better.
