Applying for spouse visa under carer's allowance route

Post by uk1984 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 3:07 pm

Hi I am a British Citizen and my wife is a Canadian Citizen. We got married last year and I want to apply for her spouse visa under the financial exemption route. I will be claiming Carer's Allowance and Income Support.

My income will be £109 p/w but the adequacy requirement is £114.85 p/w. I do not pay any rent/mortgage. Can I use any savings that are below £16,000?

I have read the rules regarding adequate maintenance but I am confused.

I have received conflicting advice on this and I hope someone could shed more light on the matter.

Thanks in advance.

Have you applied? If you've had the savings for at least 6 months before you apply, then you should be able to meet the requirement :)

Just divide those 6 month savings by 144 weeks to get a weekly amount.
