You need to state abit about your circumstances in order for forum users to be clear about your situation and therefore avice you accordingly. For instance, what type of visa would your wife be applying for? Are you British or hold citizenship from an EEA country?

spouse

Post by yaelhitch » Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:34 pm

Hi zaff i am in process of applying for a spouse for my husband. I am his partner (sponsor) and i have to proof regular income including payslips and bank accounts and prove i have enough money to support him.
Dont wantt o worry you but the ECO will not see £1000 of savings as enough to support both of you for the forseeable future.
The ECO (immigration officer) might be sceptiple of your wife's offers as they are for most things so get confirmation on the hours she will work and how much she will be eaning.
You might need to consider your the fact you are in recipt of public funds as they can be very funny about this.
Best thing to do is to get a lawyer in your case you may be able to recieve legal aid so try that.
good luck

Hi Zaf

I'm guessing you got married 'back home' and you are now wanting to apply for a Spouse Settlement Visa for your wife (in either Pakistan, Bangladesh or India)..
Firstly check out this linkand this one too.

Then you need to compile a set of documents that include the following:
(This is a standard list, so some of these documents (due to your circumstances) you won't be able to provide).
  • A Sponsorship Declaration.
  • At least 3 Months Wage slips
  • P60 2007/2008
  • A copy of a Contract of Employment
  • Employment Letter. Confirming, start date, full-time/part-time, Temp/Perm, title of position, annual salary
  • At least 3 Months bank statements (I gave both Current account showing my wages going in, and savings account statements showing my savings
  • Attested photocopies (bio-data pages) of your passport and birth certificate. Also copies of entry/exit stamps in passport.
  • Your partner must include their passport and birth certificate.
  • The marriage certificate. If not in English, it needs to be translated.
  • Property Inspection Letter - Confirming that the property that you and your partner will be living in is suitable and would not be overcrowded. If this property is your parents, you must include a copy of the land registry document/deeds and also they must write a letter stating that they are willing to allow you and your partner to reside at their property. If rented, enclose a rental agreement and the same letter from your landlord.
  • Utility bills, 3 months
  • Evidence of communication; letters, phone bills, cards, email, SMS.
  • Wedding photos, invites, wedding cards from friends and family
  • Sponsors proof of address - Copy of Driving Licence will do
  • Completed form VAF(4)
  • The applicant must have a TB test taken and if clear, a certificate must be attached to documents.
  • The applicant must include 2 Passport size photos
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Yes, you would need to get it translated as the ECO's are English speaking employees. You can get it translated by a solicitor that has a translation service. I guess you could ring your local law office (or even the Citizens Advice Bureau) and enquire about their translation services, if any.

I don't kow to be honest. I was told I needed to include his Birth Certificate; I can't remember by who though. Maybe if you ask on this thread, someone who was successful in getting their visa could tell you if they did so without the applicants Birth Cert.
