Can tier 2 general employee open a limited company

Under current Tier 2 General visa guidance, it is not clear whether or not Tier 2 Visa employee can set up their own Ltd company for their permitted 20 hours supplementary to work in the same category as original leave and continue to work for the main employer.

To clarify, the main employer pays salary through PAYE and employee wishes to register their own Ltd company for additional work with a different employer outside normal working hours and for no more than 20 hours per week. Job categories are the same and employee is the sole director of the Ltd company. Is this allowed or prohibited?

Clarification on this would be much appreciated.

So basically you want to contract through your limited company for another company??

I wanted to employ with the different company for extra 20 hours through limited company opened by me.

To work 20 hours per week you have to be on the other companies PAYE.

No, my understanding is you cannot do that.

Tier 2 does not allow self-employment, full stop.
