Immediately after grant of ILR, subject to meeting the requirements.

If you are British, he can apply immediately after receiving his BRP for the ILR if he has lived in the UK for a continuous period of 3 years. If you are not British, he has to wait for 12 months after the ILR process and has to have lived in the UK for a continuous period of 5 years.

Your spouse must also be within the permitted absence limit when applying:
"You should not have:
spent more than 270 days outside the UK during the 3 years before your application
spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months
"
AND
"You must also:
prove you were in the UK exactly 3 years before the day the Home Office receives your application
"

Thanks for all your replies. Yes im a british citizen so he wont have to wait a year. About the abscent period....it shouldn't effect him as he was only out of the uk once, for 2 weeks.

compared to ilr (set m) nutrilisation doesnt need uploading alot of supporting documents.

from what ive learnt i only need to upload:

all pages of my passport
all pages of my spouses passport
2 refree declaration forms
our Marriage certificate
my brp card
my driving licence
my birth certificate
b1 test certificate
life in the uk pass letter
employer letter

anything else ive missed?

You don't need employer letter or your drivers licence.

Applying for scitizrnship is not a repeat of ILR. Citizenship is completely separate and different laws.

British Citizenship

Post by sweet fatima » Sun Mar 31, 2019 9:52 pm

Its quiet shocking how expensive it is to get a british passport.

last week my husbands ilr was approved through super priority which costed over 3000 pounds. we didnt find any free biometric appointments so paid a further 100 pounds.

now we have just submitted his citizenship application. which costed 1349. Again theres no free  biometric appointments so thats another 100 pounds.

theres also the tests fees for b1 and life in the uk.

was just wondering what happens after this....are there any further costs?....for ceremony?

The ceremony fee of £80 is INCLUDED in the fee you have paid as the Fee Leaflets clearly states, this is for a group ceremony. If you opt for a private ceremony, that costs extra, usually around £150-£200 depending on council.

After the ceremony, if he gets approval, you will have to pay for the passport.

p.s. please do not post in citizenship topics in the ILR sub forum as your last topic was, now merged with your British citizenship topic!!

Just upload in "other" section - no need for ILR documents.
