Child citizenship question

Post by sddxac » Sun Apr 14, 2019 11:20 am

if father is ILR, mother is spouse visa, and child is born outside of UK, can child get ILR first and then get british citizenship after certain years? if yes, how many years does the child need between ILR and citizenship?

Child born abroad will follow the same path as the mother.

Children born abroad have no entitlement to register as British. They can apply for citizenship (once they have ILR) when either parent is also applying or is already British and the other parent holds ILR.

Depending on how old the child, there is potentially a residence requirement for citizenship.
