Indian Parent UK Visitor Visa

Post by suyo » Mon Apr 29, 2019 10:12 am

I am applying for my dad who lives in India to visit me and my husband in the UK for 6 months. My husband is a British citizen and I am on a spouse visa. We can prove sufficient funds and clear evidences from our side. The problem however is from my father's side. He is retired and gets a pension of 2000 INR each month. He has total savings of £3200 in his bank account. He will be showing his bank statement that always had around £3000 for the last 6 months. My main concerns are:

1. In November (around 5 months before application) he had a cheque deposited for £800 from his father in law. His father in law had been ill and requested my father to get him some cash immediately as he was physically unable to do so. My father had withdrawn £400 immediately and given to him. He still has the remainder £400 in his bank account. His father in law had specified that my father retain the remaining £400 and can return the money when he needs it again for medical purposes. We had thought about situations of huge amounts of money deposited in bank accounts and therefore we deducted £400 when entering the total savings field in the application process. So the £3200 we mentioned is lesser than what is actually in his savings. We are also planning to get a letter from his father in law explaining all details and providing medical evidence and proof of relationship. Will this be sufficient proof?

2. My father lives in a property owned by his relative (his nephew). Due to close family ties he does not pay any rent to his nephew. My father lives with his mother (my grandma), wife (my mom) and daughter (my sister). This is the main address they have on all documents and this is the address they had given in the application as main residence. However my mom and dad jointly own another property close to the one mentioned above. They do not have any proof of living there. They do not rent it as well. They alternate staying in both houses mentioned. How do we explain this complicated living situation? We want to show property number 2 as financial ties back in India. Is the property registration document enough proof? Do we have to show proof of living from the house as well?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

1) I think him having more money in his account than you stated is still better than having a lesser amount than stated in the application. Also the amount of proof you're providing could support the movement of money so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Transactions in accounts happen all the time.

2) If they often stay at the other property, property B, I'm sure they must receive bills etc for this property. Can they not change their address everywhere in the application to property B? That way they won't have the hassle of explaining their living situation, they can just state they live in property B, as in that's their address, and they own it.
This will also prove strong ties to their country in a way.

I'm assuming you haven't already submitted the application.
