Status Check - Immigration Status - Work Permit

Post by s_man1000s » Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:03 pm

Is there any way an employee can check the status of his current immigration online?
or by calling HO?

Hi all,

Sorry to bring this thread back.
I've weird thought in my mind.

One of my friend is in Work Permit and has been on a long holiday for
about 2 months so far abroad.

Now the problem is, he is not able to get any messages from his employer properly. He couldn't able to contact them
by any means. No reply.

Now when he returns back, what would happen at the immigration?

Thats the reason, I've raised the question, how to check his status with HO...

please let me know...

Send a request to UKBA for SAR records.

That may not be practical, as it could take many weeks to get the info.

If this person has been abroad on holiday for 2 months with the permission of his employer, what's the problem?

One can only infer that he's AWOL, he is afraid he's been sacked (or he knows that already), and he's wondering if the employer has shopped him to UKBA.

He may or may not be held up at immigration depending on a) whether UKBA have got around to revoking his leave in what is a relatively short time, and b) whether that decision has been communicated to ports of entry. The longer he dithers abroad the more likely that these two things will happen.

That is the reason I'd suggested OP to send a request to UKBA for SAR records to find out if his/her immigration status has changed in any way and depending upon that whether he/she could face problems at the port of entry in the UK.

UKBA have got around to revoking his leave
In case of any activities by UKBA, Will they sent a letter to the person?

I've checked his letter box, so far no letters have arrived from UKBA.

Does it make any sense?[/quote]

Yes, they would write to notify him of his change of status. Bear in mind that they can only write to his last notified address, if he's moved without telling them he won't receive the letter. But their action would still be valid.

If he's not had a letter, it's safe to assume that his status hasn't changed - yet.
