September Citizenship Ceremony 2019

Post by aneelrahim » Thu Jul 25, 2019 3:39 pm

Hi All

I am creating new thread to discuss the approvals and invitations for Sept Ceremony 2019.

I talk with INIS and they told me that they will send invitation in the mid of August.

I received approval on 21 June 2019.

I got approval on 18th of June (applied in December 2017) and now I am waiting for invitation, but a bit worried about the court rules. But anyway finger crossed and good luck for those who are still waiting for approval.

This is NOT the topic for your question. This topic is only for those approved and potentially being invited to the ceremony, ie the end of the process. There is already a topic regarding the court ruling, please post your questions there.

My husband got the approval on Monday 15 of July 2019 (he applied end of May 2018), no invite has been issued yet but through email the department said will issue them 2-3 weeks prior to the ceremony.

Will be interesting to see when people start receiving invites. I got 2nd stage letter in June and managed to speak to the department end of June and they said there is "Good Chance" I'll be in the next intake. :|

Applied Nov 18.

Did you apply yourself or lawyer? And they gave you any timeframe for sending money?

I call today and they haven't started sending invitation yet.

It will take couple of weeks more when they will start sending invitations for ceremony.

Is anyone here still on 'advance stage' or is anyone approved already?

My wife is approved and paid up; was invited to the April ceremony but couldn’t go due to prior commitments, which INIS accepted. Expecting to be invited to this one, so fingers crossed

That's great! I'm sure they will invite her. But she was approved before the court ruling.

I was wondering about people in advanced stages, It seems like no one has heard anything about approvals lately, or none of those people are in this forum, which is kinda unlikely.

It is a minority of people who post on forums, in the bigger scheme of things. There are likely many who are waiting that don't post at all.

If the department is going ahead with the sept'19 ceremony, many of us should have approval letters by this week and early next week but there are no signs of any approval so far...I think there is a chance that this ceremony would be postponed to a later stage after a resolution has been put in place for the court ruling on continuous residence..Its just my view.

There are 9 people who posted that they got approval in 2019 who haven't then posted to say they would be attending a ceremony. They might be still waiting.

The Department and Minister have been clear that the ceremony will go ahead. It would be very embarrassing for them to cancel or postpone and for that reason alone I expect it to go ahead. I wouldn't expect approval letters to start being posted on here until next week (5 weeks before the ceremony). This has been the pattern for the last few ceremonies.

Somewhere between 1% and 2% of people who attend a ceremony (so expect to see 30 to 60 in the next few weeks, including after the ceremony). Or around 0.8% of all applicants based on 2017 and 2018.

I rang INIS this morning to check progress on my application, and spoke to a lady who advised that the September ceremony is very unlikely to go ahead due to the recent court ruling, but as always, she couldn't confirm anything definitively.
I also asked her if it is a case that if the September ceremony does not go ahead, would it mean that the next one would be in December only as scheduled previously, and she said that they would need to postpone the September one until the current issue is resolved as oppose to cancel it, as there are around 4000 people waiting for the September ceremony at the moment, and go ahead with another one then in December.
She also said no invitations have yet or are scheduled to be issued for the September ceremony.

Just read the last statement issued by inis department on 29 July as follows

It is intended that the Citizenship Ceremony scheduled to take place at the end of September will still go ahead and planning is taking place on that basis.

Ok so lets wait for another statement from the INIS that the ceremony will be postponed to a later date.
