Tier-2 Visa - restricted or unrestricted?

Post by sap111 » Mon Aug 05, 2019 11:34 am

I am trying to switch jobs and my prospective employer said that they can sponsor me a Visa only if I have and unrestricted Tier-2 General visa. I am unsure how I can find this as my BRP/CoS does not mention anything like this.

I checked the definitions here: https://workpermit.com/immigration/unit ... ponsorship

I came to the UK in 2010 on a Student Visa. Then in Jan 2012 I applied for Post-study Work Visa. Then in Jan 2014 I switched to Tier-2 Visa while in the UK. So as per the above definitions I must have an unrestriced Visa as I was in the UK?

Applications from outside the UK = A Restricted CoS to apply for a visa.

Application within the UK to switch to or change employers or extend existing visa = UNrestricted CoS to apply for a visa.

Restricted CoS are needed for all Tier 2 (General) entry clearance applications, unless:
• the salary on the CoS is £159,600 or more,
• the application is for a doctor (SOC code 2211),
• the application is for a nurse (SOC code 2231), or
• where the job is connected with an inward investment project
