IRL Year Calculation Question

Post by Carterbell » Tue Aug 20, 2019 6:11 pm

Hello, I'm an American citizen married to a British citizen. I've just begun my FLR(M) and am on the 5 year partner route. Before I began my LTR visa, I was on a 1.5 year long student visa -- does anyone know if it is possible to use your time on a previous visa towards your ILR year calculation? I have 2.5 years left on my current FLR(M) but am wondering if it might be possible to apply for ILR early due to my time on the student visa. I have lived in the UK full time since Aug 2015. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Your student visa doesn't count towards the residence for 5 year ilr. You need 5 years on FLR m to qualify for ilr 5 years residence.

The student visa would only count for ilr based on 10 years long residence.
