Extension for Visitor Visa

Post by yashah1990 » Sat Aug 24, 2019 12:25 pm

Hello all,

I had a query related to UK visitor visa extension.
My mother in law got UK visitor visa from 5th April to 4th October 2019.
She travelled to UK on 6th April and travelled back to India on 18th May (she stayed in UK for 44 days)
Now she again travelled back on 1st July and her planned return date is 3rd Oct (95 days planned stay). So her overall stay is four and half months in UK.

Reason for her travelling now and extension is - currently my wife is expecting and her delivery date is 23rd September.
So, my mother in law wants to extend her stay for around 2 months.

Is it possible? If yes then please suggest the procedure.

Thanks & regards,
Yash

Unlikely. Extensions of visitor visas are only granted on exceptional and compassionate or medical reasons of the applicant with substantial evidence. Your wife's pregnancy wouldn't be considered such reasons. It also costs £993 to extend.

It'll be difficult as her stay was only 6 months.. best to go back and apply again staying duration of 2 months stay.

How long did you say on the original application she would stay for?

If you only stated the period of time the first visit on the application then you’re going to have significant problems getting a visa for her in the future.

Don't even try it. It won't work and it will compromise her visa applications in the future.
