Thanks Zimba. I appreciate your help. Just one more question. Why is the settled status not required? If I don’t get a decision on my naturalisation by the closing date of the settled status applications, or for some reason my naturalisation gets denied, and I haven’t applied for the settled status, then I am left with nothing to prove my status. It is not something I would like to end up with after living here for 10 years.
thanks. actually, I googled this eve and apparently if someone applies for settled status while one also has a pending immigration application, then the outstanding immigration application won’t be considered.Andromedax wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 10:32 pmHello tresgoya, my advice: Apply for settled status now; it's a much simpler and easier process than the PR card and you can get your approval within few days (It took 9 days for me) it will give you piece of mind in this chaotic Brexit nightmare we're living. If I were you I would continue to email the HO to ask for an update, just don't overdo it. Good luck, hope you get an answer soon!
https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-ci ... -to-remainTo continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021 you must either:
apply to the EU Settlement Scheme - you will not have to prove you have 5 years’ continuous residence
apply for citizenship before 30 June 2021 (or 31 December 2020 if the UK leaves the EU without a deal)
Thanks. There seem to be quite a few emails floating on this forum. Just wanted a confirmation of the ones that actually reply sooner rather than later..
I emailed here for my wife after 6 months. Got a response in 1 day.
Don't worry, I lost it and when they told me that it was posted, I reuqested them back asking for soft copy of approval letter and invitation. I emailed here Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uktresgoya wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 6:56 pmI have never gotten them. I checked my calendar to see if I was away at the time and perhaps missed it because of that, but no.
my friend thinks they might have forgotten to actually post it.
and we have had issues with the post, like f.e. the postman delivering our neighbours’ posts to us and vice versa. so, I’m thinking that could also have happened.
Thanks to you and everyone on this board for being so responsive and helpful. It meant a lot to be able to turn to this board for advice.
so happy despite the fact that I still need to hold the actual letter in my hands
