EEA2 residence card and settled status

Post by Rose2019 » Sun Oct 13, 2019 11:11 am

hello

I am a non EU national married to a EU citizen.

I have my 5 year leave eea2 residence card which expires year 2023

And I also have Settled Status which I can access only online since I have a eea2 BRP card that expires in 2023

So what happens in december 2020 as my eea2 residence card will not be valid. Do I rely on my settled status?

hello

Just am going out of uk for xmas

I am not sure how long until the outcome of the application

Do you have to send all documents online again

Because we have settled status. I would think it will be much easier

Hello everyone

Is there anyone (non eu national )who applied for pre-settlement status BRC as family member of eu national before EEA2 residence card?

My husband has pre-settlement status granted on his BRC and we are in the process of applying for EEA2 for him to aid him to travel visa free in European countries.
If he gets the EEA2, would the home office ask him to return the BRC pre-settlement status? Or can he have both since they are ruled differently by UK & EU?

Home office ask me to send my old card back ( the EEA2 residence card) since they have sent me my new card

hi

no i have to apply for schengen visa to visit Europe with my settled status and to be honest even when I had my EEA2 residence card I always applied for multiple schengen visa as it was a way of avoiding issues at the border

All EEA2 residence cards will not be valid from 31st December 2020 because of brexit as EEA2 residence card is under EU law and that is why I changed my card from EEA2 to settled status.

look at the link below and you will see how long the EEA2 residence card is valid for? Once it is December 2020..All EEA2 residence cards are not valid.

https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-a-uk-residence-card

Once it is monday I will return my old EEA2 residence card back to home office as I was instructed in the letter that told me my settled status card is on the way.

It says that EEA2 card will not be valid Dec 2020 if UK leaves EU without a deal Howevever, it will continue to be valid till June 2021 if uk leaves EU with a deal.
Since settlement status is the way forward, I doubt they will ask him to return it if he also receives EEA2 residence card.
It wI'll be nice to know for sure

well u cannot have 2 different residence cards

home office will not allow you keep 2 different cards

if it was the case they will not tell me to send my eea2 residence card to them so they can destroy it since I have been granted a new card

OK I see. To be honest I would rather him keep his pre-settlement status rather than returning in the view to reapply again.
Do you have any contact details of the home office team?
With regard to Shengen visa, is it free? How long it takes to receive a response? Can you suggest any links?

Thanks

Thank you Rose2019. It is the above number that I have been calling and was told he can travel visa free since BRC is replacing the EEA2 residence card. Since I am from Cyprus, I will consult with Cyprus ambassy shengen visa so at leaSt we can travel once this year and see what happens next year after brexit.
