Tier 2 visa documents required as per checklist

Hi there,
My employer has raised a visa request( tier 2 long term staff) and the now after the payment I received the document check list from IHS, which is asking for my passport and marriage certificate. Thought I am married we never got a marriage certificate done and also my partner is not travelling with me as of now. My question is marriage certificate a must have in this case ? If yes are there any alternatives as to procure one it will takes at least a month for me.

If your wife not applying for the visa, then you no need to suppy. However, in future , in case she is applyin, she has to show evidence of marriage.

Depending on your country, you need to work out getting certificate/alternative evidence
